One could experience everything that world had to offer simply by ‘beating’ the game, and the story of that world only continued with the next release in the series. It really does feel like Mass effect 3 is everywhere these days, and a report from Siliconera that Mass Effect themed DLC will soon be available for Final Fantasy XIII-2 is doing nothing to dispel that feeling. Siliconera, citing anonymous sources, is reporting that a Mass Effect themed costume has been made especially for Square Enix’s recent release.

R18+ category for games in Australia heading for Jan 2013 implementation

It’s been a long, drawn-out campaign, but it seems there is an end-date in sight for the move to enable an R18+ classification for games in Australia. Home Affairs minister Jason Clare has today introduced a bill which proposes an act to ammend the currently existing Classification Act – and in so doing enable the establishment of an R18+ categorisation for video games. If this bill is successfully passed through both the Lower House and the Senate, the new legislation could go into effect beginning January 2013.

Mass Effect 3 Vault for the Xbox360 revealed

When a high profile, Triple A title is released, a veritable tidal wave of accessories follows in its wake. Some of the merchandising is fantastic and some of it…well…let’s say it’s…unique. EB Games Australia have unveiled ‘The Vault’ for the Xbox360 – a Mass Effect 3 themed console stand which apparently ‘armors’ your 360 to ‘show Shepard at his best.’ Apparently Femshep doesn’t exist here, guys.

Shortlist for BAFTA Game award revealed

Video game retailer GAME has announced their shortlist for the BAFTA GAME award, which is the only award attached to the GAME Bristish Academy Video Games Awards that is open to public vote. The shortlist of contenders is chosen by a panel consisting of media experts and representatives, and the winner is chosen by public vote – GAME customers and the wider public are able to cast their votes to determine the winner of the award.

SEGA Studios Australia ‘restructuring’ means 37 jobs lost

In more sad news for the Australian Gaming Industry today, Kotaku Australia are reporting that Sega Studios Australia has made 37 of its staffmembers redundant, following a restructuring of the company. This number represents almost half of the studios’ staffmembers, and is another blow to the already suffering Aussie Dev industry.
