Multiverse – Buffy and Firefly MMO developer shuts down

It’s with sadness that we report on the closure of Multiverse – the developer working on both the Buffy and Firefly MMO’s. Multiverse have announced via their official website that the reason for the closure was Multiverse’s inability to achieve a profitable business model, which led to the company ceasing operations in December due to lack of funding.

Bioware reveals retailer specific preorder bonuses for Mass Effect 3

Bioware have taken to their official forums to detail all the bonus items gamers who preorder Mass Effect 3 will be receiving, broken down by retailer. It’s the usual assortment of armor and weapons, and those who have already pre-ordered need not fear about missing out – Bioware have stated pre-order bonuses will be rolled over and those who have already put down their dollars on a pre-order will receive the bonuses. User pays $16 000 for virtual sword in Age of Wulin MMO

Remember when we reported on EA offering a $100 DLC car in their Need For Speed World game, and we wondered who on earth would spend one hundred real dollars for a bunch of virtual pixels? Seems $100 is chump change when compared with the user who has spent $16 000 during a recent auction for the as yet unreleased Chinese MMO Age of Wulin. And what did this user get for their $16 000? A swanky virtual sword. That’s it. And that’s without even playing the game, since it hasn’t even seen release yet.

ESRB rates Soul Calibur V, noting “large amounts of jiggling cleavage”

Oh the ESRB. I love their descriptions of video games. No really, I do. Describing the ‘space furniture’ and ‘future space blouses’ in Mass Effect 2 was the highlight of their review. And the ESRB have done it again with their breakdown of what gamers can expect to see in Soul Calibur V! And yes, that includes “large amounts of jiggling cleavage and portions of [female fighters’] buttocks”. Jiggling cleavage and buttocks, you say? In a Soul Calibur game?! The shock!

Mass Effect 3 will feature 82 minutes of cutscenes; rated by BBFC

We’re getting close to March, which means Mass Effect 3’s release date is fast approaching, and with it come snippets of information from the various ratings boards, who are finally getting their lucky hands on the game. The first to announce some extra juicy news are the BBFC, who have revealed that Mass Effect 3 will feature some 82 minutes of cutscenes. Yes, you read that correctly. 82 MINUTES OF CUTSCENES. They also gave the game a 15 rating for its strong language and infrequent strong violence, but who cares about that because 82 MINUTES OF CUTSCENES.

New Syndicate ‘Deep Dive’ Co-op Trailer

Syndicate may not be being released here in Australia, thanks to our more than stupid classification system, but the hype machine for EA’s upcoming shooter continues on, with the newest trailer showcasing the game’s co-op mode. The trailer quickly introduces the 4 characters on offer within the 4 player co-op, and reveals that there will be 9 missions from the original Syndicate for players to re-experience.
