Saints Row: The Third – The Trouble With Clones

TroublewithClones

The Trouble with Clones represents the good and the bad of Saints Row DLC. Despite clocking in at 51 minutes total, the three missions that comprise TwC take you back to the sheer ridiculous of the main game. Unlike Professor Genki and Gangstas in Space, The Trouble with Clones fits in well with the overall storyline. I guess this means there are Saints Row: The Third spoilers ahead.

Mass Effect 3 Review Week: Keller’s Review

mass3

With regards to giving critique and other sorts of feedback, there is something I like called the sandwich technique.  You give the praise first, add the criticism in the middle, and then follow it up with more praise.  Despite the ending that left me feeling quite melancholy after completing the game, Mass Effect 3 had many wonderful story and gameplay aspects that make it one of the best games I’ve ever played.

Mass Effect 3 Review Week: Griffon’s Review

me3-launch 9

There are very few games I can say had me cheering, growling, crying, and at the edge of my seat at various points throughout the game. Mass Effect 3 is one of them. But then considering both Mass Effect 1 and 2 were the same, I am not really surprised by this. This game is damn near perfect.

ME3 Demo Impressions

me3-mp-1

There are minor spoilers within this article based on the content of the demo. If you wish to go into Mass Effect 3 completely pure, then do not read! I’ve spent almost a week with the Mass Effect 3 demo now. All it is telling me is that I can’t wait any longer for this game. I need it now. I must find out how it ends, even if that is in multiple possible ways. And I must have my happily ever after with a certain marine and a certain raven haired biotic. There isn’t much to this short demo […]

She Has Arrived: More Love for Mass Effect 3’s Female Shepard

me3femshep

Since its inception, the Mass Effect franchise has been all about the player. The story being affected by your choices is one of the premier features of the game: whether it’s being nice to a council of aliens to get them to help you, or pushing a mercenary out of a window because he won’t give you information, your choices matter. While BioWare has consistently used the facial scan of Dutch male model Mark Vanderloo for the Shepard in the commercials and trailers, there’s always been the option to make a custom Shepard to suit your preferences of how you […]

An Empty World

leliana

Playing through the Mass Effect franchise in preparation for ME3 and the never ending runs through Dragon Age: Origins after chugging through Skyrim late last year has brought to light a striking dichotomy in the world of gaming: the freedom of an open world versus the freedom of choice.

Escaping Reality

escapism1

I think I game to fill a void in my life.  There is a sense of disconnection, a definite feeling that I have no control, and just a lack of purpose.  I hate it.  And in so many ways gaming offers a balm for that pain.  It eases the burden, even if only slightly sometimes, and it gives me something that maybe only music will ever transcend: a sense of wonder and hope.  Some might not understand this at all.  Actually quite sure a few might snicker at this revelation.  But then I look at the world around me and […]

Old Game, New Review – Fallout: New Vegas

falloutnewvegas

“Wonderful,” I thought to myself as I stood in the clinic, in front of the man who rescued me.  “More brown.”  A negative sentiment toward a game before you’re even past the character creator is always a wonderful sign.  Truth be told, I should have known what I was getting myself into with Fallout: New Vegas.  Having had issues with the bland colour palate in Fallout 3, the dusty brown tint of the Mojave Wasteland should have come as no surprise.  With that in mind, you might be wondering why I picked up a game that, gameplay-wise, is near identical […]
