Impossible Game is Impossible But Fun!

I have not been getting enough sleep or proper nutrition, as have many others in the Save Game community. However, while the others have been neglecting those necessities via copious amounts of Skyrim, I have been doing this via The Impossible Game.

Jupiter’s Folly – Our thoughts and experiences #1

jupiters2

Recently, some members of the Save Game staff and our forums were given the opportunity to try their hand at Jupiter’s Folly – an online strategy board game from Iron Helmet Games. The game features mining. It features crystal. It features alien bugs intent on wiping out your security details and playing havoc with your mines. And thrown into all of this is the challenge of competing against other players who have similar goals and objectives as you. Over the next three days, we’ll be posting our experiences with the game, so that those of you unfamiliar with the game […]

Old Game, New Review – Fallout 3

fallout34

Fallout 3 received some acclaim when it was first released in 2008. With reviews in the 90th percentile, and a love of Oblivion/Bethesda, I was looking forward to playing this game set in post-nuclear, dystopian America. So after playing the game for a good several hours, I’ve resigned myself to the realization that I likely will not get any farther—nor pass—Fallout 3, due to a mixture of gameplay mechanics and my own personal frustration with it.

modernwarfare3inter

October 1st was a hugely exciting day because I got to attend Holland’s biggest gamer con, FirstLook 2011. Games are fast-paced, usually running anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes, as opposed to Classic games which tend to average 45 minutes.

Sexism in Gaming

sexism1

Sexism in gaming. It’s the proverbial pink elephant in the room – widely acknolwedged, but no one wants to be the one to stand up and ask what the hell it’s doing there in the first place. The technology scene has always been a male dominated one, especially in terms of video games. Marketing, media – they’re both targeted at a young, male audience.

Free to play game League of Legends cancels Mac Beta

lolmac

The free-to-play game League of Legends cancelled their Mac beta earlier this week, sparking outrage on…well, the tiny corner of the forums devoted to the Macintosh Beta users. Chief complaints included the sudden shot off of service (supposedly a pre-emptive move for the upcoming release of Dominion, which the client would not support), the lack of notice to users of the client, and of course, the shut off itself.

Trenched Review

trenched1

In our shining pantheon of video games, too often do downloadable games get the cold shoulder. The reputation for chintzy, non-serious forays into the industry by ill prepared indie developers leaves a bad taste in the gamer community’s mouth. Maybe one out of three or four titles don’t play like crappy ad-hoc flash games. Well, put down your awesome Techno Kitten Adventures, boys and girls. Trenched is about to Listerine the crap out of your little gumlines.
