Nick, Author at Save Game - Page 6 of 7

About the Author: (@Nicktatorship) Writer

Nick grew up during the golden age of adventure games, sweeping him away to worlds that left him with a love of storytelling . He’s become a devotee of the Xbox, but thinks there’s room for all of the maker’s platforms. He considers Mass Effect itself to be the defining accomplishment of humanity, which would only be surpassed by the construction of an actual mass relay. When he’s not reliving the Shakarian dream, he’s drawn most to RPGs, open world games, and hours upon hours of building things in Minecraft.

Impressions: Dragon Age Inquisition Multiplayer

One of the most refreshing things about Mass Effect 3 (no, we’re not going to discuss the ending) was the Multiplayer mode. Originally seen as a tacked-on implementation that was meant to satisfy a checklist, ME3MP recaptured something of the camaraderie that used to be so integral in multiplayer gaming.

Event Report: LG Ultimate TV Gaming Experience

It’s a sunny afternoon in the middle of October, and I’m standing at the bow of a ferry that’s just left the wharf at Milsons Point. With a bright vision of Sydney Harbour behind me, my brief journey to La Corniche begins. There’s an event. The promise is the same as it always is, and echoes with the familiar staples. There’s food, drink, and of course, games. It’s only just past my second whole month of living this life, and it’s still ridiculously difficult to contain my excitement.

Community Report: Warlords of Draenor Launch Event

Event Cinemas in Sydney were host to the pre-launch event for Blizzard’s new World of Warcraft expansion, Warlords of Draenor. The queue for entry ran from the first floor, down the stairs, and well past the ticket office. The numbers attending were massive, and it’s to no surprise that the tickets had all been nabbed within three minutes of being made available last tuesday.

Community Report: EB Expo 2014

EB Games put on the newest version of their games Expo this year, starting for most on October 3rd, and running through until October 5th. I went along to do coverage for Save Game, but the truth is I would’ve went regardless. The first time I went was Expo 2012, and due to not being in the neighbourhood last year, this was my second chance to attend. I can’t compare with how it might have been last year, but there was a definite shift in atmosphere over that two year period. The early throw at the event felt empty in […]

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor – Review

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is probably the best LOTR-themed game in recent years, possibly since the tie-in game for Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. It steadily improves as a game through play, strongly conveying the growth in power of the player’s character Talion through play as well as story, and in a most welcome change, it exercises moderation in how it touches upon the lore that surrounds Middle-earth. While one of the key draws for LOTR games is being able to explore the environments we’ve seen in films or read of in the books, the word judicious doesn’t come […]

The Evil Within’s New Gameplay Trailer

It’s hard to believe it’s now less than two weeks since game-lovers at EB Expo were able to evacuate their bowels in a miniature version of a maze based on Bethesda’s new title, The Evil Within, but with the game due to hit stores any second now, the nightmares are coming back.

Interview – Techland’s Dying Light

On a sunny saturday at EB Expo, I stopped by the Warner Bros booth to check out the latest game from Techland. After an introductory video that showed how to play, I was thrown into the playable demo of Dying Light, side-by-side with zombies, and a few horsemen past the apocalypse. It was almost a leisurely walk, but if you’ve kept up with this title, you’d know that as day falls to night, the pace (as well as the danger would pick up). As soon as the rain began, the skies began to darken, and if not for a last minute […]

Interview – Simon Barlow, Lead Developer of DRIVECLUB

Playstation Australia invited Save Game along to a launch event on the eve of EB Expo, giving members of the gaming press a chance to get a hands-on with some brand new games coming out for Playstation 4, and something else that’s without compare, an empty Expo hall. There were a number of games on display, including The Order 1886, Little Big Planet 3, Bloodborne and of course, DRIVECLUB.

Hands on preview with Battlefield Hardline

I had the chance this week to have a hands-on preview of the upcoming Battlefield: Hardline, the newest instalment of the Battlefield franchise being developed by Visceral Games. It’s a significant departure from the military theme that’s been so endemic to the previous games, harkening back to the old playground favourite, Cops and Robbers; a relic from a time when kids could point their fingers at another and shout BANG! without being brought before the vice-principal. Ah, but the game.
