Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim takes home even more awards

Bethesda’s fantasy RPG power-hitter has taken home more awards, and it’s at this point that I wonder why people even bother to nominate other games in the categories that Skyrim is nominated in, because seriously – they are never going to win. The awards on this occassion were from Norway’s Gullstikka and Skyrim walked away with four shiny new wins: Best Adventure/RPG, Best Game, Best PC game and Best Console Game. I expect if the awards had a ‘Best game ever of this century in the history of ever’ award, that Skyrim would have won that too.

Surprisingly, there were other winners on the night, including FIFA 12 for best sports game, Little Big Planet 2 for best children’s game, Battlefield 3 for best action game, Forza 4 for best racing game, Portal 2 for best platform game, and Total War: Shogun 2 for best strategy game.

But let’s not kid ourselves here, other games. If Bethesda ever releases an expansion pack which lets you race carts against other players, compete in online games playing whatever the equivalent of football was in Skyrim times and team up with your buddy to solve puzzles in a child-friendly yet intellectually strategic way, it would also likely take home all those categories too.

So here’s hoping Bethesda doesn’t do that, because then the awards ceremonies would be even more droll than they already are.
