Here in Australia, we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but what we can celebrate is the fantastic bargains that gamers can get their turkey grease covered hands on during the Black Friday deals. It seems every retailer wants you to spend your cash at their stores, but every conscientious Black Friday shopper knows you need to plan ahead to ensure you finish the day with the games, and deals, you want. So aren’t you lucky there exists a Black Friday deals rundown, right here? Yes. Yes you are.

Best Buy

Best Buy have some very good deals going, including Xbox Live Gold 3 month subscriptions for $8, and a PS3 160gb console with Little Big Planet 2 and Ratchet and Clank for $199. They are also selling recent Triple A titles for very good prices (around the $30 mark). Those games do have a 1 per customer limit, however, so don’t go thinking you can grab multiple copies for Christmas presents. For the first time ever, Best Buy are also offering free shipping on all orders at BestBuy.com. Given that most of the Black Friday deals can be found on their website, this might be a better way to grab your bargains than going to the store on the day. Walmart

If you can’t justify paying $29.99 for Battlefield 3 at Best Buy – you’re in luck – because Walmart has it for $28! The savings! $28 will also get you Batman: Arkham City, Gears of War 3, Infamous 2 or Call of Duty: Black Ops. However, make sure you’re quick if you want to take advantage of those offers, as they are time limited and start on Thanksgiving night. Also on offer at Walmart is the Blue Wii – for $100 – and several console bundles that feature various additions. Check them out, in addition to the other sales on offer, at Walmart’s website.

Gamestop

Gamestop does enjoy its preowned and trade in deals, and Black Friday sales are no exception. If you pop in to your local Gamestop store come Friday and buy any two used games or accessories, you’ll get a third game or accessory (of equal or lesser value, of course) for free. Gamestop are also offering 4GB Xbox360 Console for $149.99, and they have some fantastic PS3 games – Infamous, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Killzone 2 for $14.99 each. Nintendo fans shouldn’t feel left out, with the retailer offering the Blue Wii console bundle with Super Mario Brothers and Super Mario Galaxy Soundtrack CD for $149.99. If none of those deals grab you, check out the full list of specials here.

Kmart

If Kmart is your retailer of choice for the Black Friday festivities, make sure you get there early, as a lot of their specials are time sensitive and start at 5am on Friday 25th. These deals, known as ‘Blue Friday’, run from 5am-11am on the Black Friday and include such deals as Driver: San Francisco for $20, Battlefield 3 or Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for $35, and Need For Speed: The Run for $40. A cool $10 will get you Enslaved on the 360. As for the other Black Friday deals, $99 will get you a Kinect sensor, $40 will net you Gears of War 3 or Forza 4, and $30 will see you walking away with RAGE or Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection among others. For the full list, check out the catalog here.

Target

This year marks the first year Target has entered the Black Friday deals scene, and they certainly look like they are hitting the ground running. Pop into this local retailer come Friday and you’ll be able to choose from a variety of specials, from xbox 360 and PS3 wireless controllers for $39, $10 Xbox Gold Live 3 month subscription cards, Forza 4 for $27 and Need For Speed: The Run for $37. Online Stores

Amazon

Amazon has established a real presence in the Black Friday deals circle, and this year they seem to be starting the deals early, with savings already on offer through their website. Some of the more notable deals include Bioshock 2 for both Xbox360 and PS3 for $9.99, Red Dead Redemption, Game of the Year Edition for PS3 and Xbox360 for $29.99 and the StarCraft Battle Chest for PC for $9.99. Again, I’m not too sure why there’s a focus on .99 price points, but you can check out the full listing of deals on Amazon’s website here. Amazon are adding new deals almost daily, so be sure to check the website often.

XBLA/PSN deals

Gamers would do well to check for XBLA/PSN deals come Black Friday, as SEGA have announced they’ll be participating in the festivities, with games such as Streets of Rage 2, Golden Axe and Comix Zone available for download at $2.99 each on the North American PSN store. XBLA users can look forward to downloading titles like Crazy Taxi, Sega Rally Online Arcade and Outrun Online Arcade for 400 MSP, and Streets of Rage 2 and Phantasy Star 2 for 200 MSP.

Origin

EA has announced they will be offering savings of up to 60% on select games on offer through their Origin platform. The actual titles haven’t been announced yet, but EA has stated they will be offering free shipping on orders of $39.99 and over. Make sure you keep an eye on the Origin store on 9:00pm PST (12am EST) on November 24, when the full listing of games included in the sales will be revealed.
