Founders of Blizzard and Valve talk online console ubiquity

Frank Pearce and Gabe Newell, the founders of Blizzard Entertainment and Valve, have expressed their wish for Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo to break down the barricades between their console’s online services. Speaking to Develop regarding their desire for online console ubiquity, Pearce stated it would be “ideal to have a unified online community regardless of the platform that gamers are playing on.” For the full interview, check out the link below.

Interstate volunteers also welcome to ALRC focus groups

A quick update to one of our stories yesterday. Whilst the focus groups for the classification review will be held in Sydney – the ALRU have stated that interstate volunteers are very welcome to attend – and that to facilitate this attendance, the ALRC will cover reasonable costs incurred by interstate volunteers in getting to the focus groups (such as economy fights, a night’s accommodation etc). Mass Effect fans not impressed with new Anime-styled Liara statue

In what seems to be a trend for Bioware, fans of the Mass Effect series have been angered by a reveal of an ultra anime-stylized Liara statue, commissioned by Bioware from Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo style of statues. Posting new photos on their facebook page, Bioware asked for fans opinions – and likely didn’t expect the response. Currently with over 2,200 responses, the majority of comments have blasted the figurine, criticising the fact it looks nothing like her – from her facial expression to her pose to her massively enhanced breasts.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution DLC bound for October release

Earlier in the week, Square Enix sent Deus Ex: Human Revolution fans on an ARG mystery clue hunt, and fans were quick to solve the mystery. Now, Square Enix have revealed new details on Deus Ex: Human Revolution DLC that is set to release sometime in October. Sydney volunteers wanted for ALRC focus groups

Good news Sydney videogamers – the Australian Law Reform Commission is looking for volunteers to be used in focus group testing. If you’re an over 18 Sydneysider who’s willing to “view material which they may find offensive, confronting and disturbing” in an effort to help your fellow Aussies receive the classification system we’ve been requesting for ages, fill in the ALRC’s application form.
