The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – World Setting video

I love the Witcher games. Mostly because I love Geralt, but I also love the world, the characters and pretty much everything else that CD Projekt Red have included in the titles. So whenever a new trailer for the upcoming Witcher 3: Wild Hunt releases, I’m positively giddy with happiness. The latest trailer to be released is called ‘World Setting’, and to summarise my reaction after watching it: holy crap I need this game NOW.

Hands on preview: Tales of Xillia 2

I was a little wary beginning my preview of Tales Of Xillia 2. I’m not often grabbed by JRPGs, and with it being a sequel I was worried I’d be left behind by the plot, having no idea what was going on. Thankfully, despite my initial concerns, it left a much better impression than that.

The path to a gay lead

Gaming has come a long way over the years. From the simplicity of Pong to the complexities of trying to understand the plot of the Metal Gear Solid series, we have seen games evolve from more than the quick game you try and reload, to games in which the story-lines engage the player, drawing them in to the artificial world created by the games writers. We are spending greater amounts of time in these game worlds, and with this time investment has come a greater interaction with the characters within these worlds.

This is not a good way to start the week.  Remember that Guardian you designed in the Destiny Beta?  Remember how much fun you had creating him or her, collecting loot and leveling up?  Well, they’re gone.  Forever.  Bungie has announced that all players will be starting from scratch when Destiny ships next month.  Read on for the details.

Hands on preview – Project CARS

“Have you played a racing simulator before?” I’m asked as I stand in Bandai Namco’s Sydney office. “I’ve… tried to” I reply. This elicits a laugh. “Yeah, that’s a good answer”. I won’t pretend that I’m the target audience of Project CARS (which is short for Community Assisted Racing Simulator) because I’m really not. It’s designed for people who take racing games seriously, who know all the famous circuits like the back of their hand, and understand the differences between all the classes of cars besides “These ones are faster”. I’m not great at racing games, and I lack the […]

DLC Review – Dark Souls 2: Crown of the Sunken King

8 out of 10 Great

Sometimes, I wonder why I do this. It’s 2am. I’m reeling from yet another death, handed ignomiously to me by another almost impossible to kill Dark Souls 2 denizen. My patience is on a razor edge, I’m so close to throwing the controller down and walking away. And yet I press forward, telling myself I’ll continue for just a little longer, that I’ll try just one more time. Because the challenge of progressing to the next bonfire to save your game, whilst oh so maddening, also leads to the sweetest reward when achieved. This is what Dark Souls 2 does […]
