Kingdoms of Amalur Demo available on Xbox Live January 17

Not long now until the release of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, and to get us ready for 38 Studios’ RPG big-hitter, Microsoft have announced that a demo for the title will be available on Xbox Live on January 17. No further details on the specifics of the demo or what it will showcase have been revealed, nor has confirmation of a PS3 or PC demo been announced.

Darkness II reclassified in Australia following inclusion of sex scene

Following the inclusion of a sex scene, 2K Games and Digital Extremes’ The Darkness II had to be reclassified by the Australian Classification Board. The original classification by the Board, completed in July, was revisited and reclassified in December after a new build of the game added a sex scene to it. After the inclusion of this sex scene, 2K voluntarily re-submitted the game to the Board in case the new content changed the game’s MA15+ rating. Thankfully the scene passed with no edits, however the game’s classification has been modified to include an acknowledgement of the additional content.

New maps incoming in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations DLC

Can’t get enough stabby stabby kill kill in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations? Tired of pulling the same moves in the same maps? Lucky for you Ubisoft has heard your pleas for new content and has announced the “Mediterranean Traveler Map Pack” – the latest DLC for Assassins Creed: Revelations. The map pack includes six new maps which will provide players with the ability to pull off some unique moves given the new terrains and hidey spots of the included locations. The DLC will be available on both the PSN and Xbox Live January 24th.

Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D for 3DS release date announced

One of the most eagerly anticipated games on the Nintendo 3DS has been given an official release date – with Konami announcing that Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D will be available on February 21 for North America, and March 8 for Australia. Aussie retailer JB HiFi will not be selling 3G PS Vita’s; cancels pre-orders

Bad news for those of you who had placed their 3G PS Vita pre-order with JB HiFi – the Aussie company will not be stocking the 3G versions of the handheld. The 3G version of the PS Vita comes with a Vodaphone SIM and since JB HiFi has an exclusive contract with Telstra to only sell their products, this means they cannot stock nor sell the 3G PS Vita. Looks like it’s only the Wi-Fi version that can be stocked by the retailer.

Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition releasing March 2 in Europe

Warner Bros. Interactive have announced that The Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition will be hitting European shelves on March 2, 2012. The re-relase of the 2011 fighter includes all content from the original game, in addition to all the DLC released for the title – fighters Skarlet, Rain and Kenshi, and special treat Freddy Kruegar. 15 Classic Skins and 3 Fatalities are also included in release.

Rumored February release date for Diablo 3 shot down by Blizzard

If you were hoping that the rumored February release date for Diablo III was true, prepare to be disappointed, with Blizzard’s Community Manager, Micah Whiple saying that any retailer listings are not official. Whiple took to twitter to state that “retailers will not know a date until its officially announced through a press release.” Which means that Best Buy and Gameplay’s weekend listings pegging a Diablo III release in February aren’t at all official and merely guesswork on behalf of the stores.

Nintendo have announced more tour dates for its Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses tour. The show features live orchestral performances of select theme music from Zelda games spanning the last 25 years of the series’ history. You can purchase a ticket from the official website, but those of you wanting to attend the January 10 show at Dallas, TX are out of luck, as it is already sold out. Update 1.1 for SW:TOR released on test server

Good news for all you Star Wars: The Old Republic players – Bioware has released Game Update 1.1 on the public test server. New changes featured in the update include Kaon Under Siege – a new Flashpoint, and four new bosses to Operation: Karagga’s Palace. Changes to Ilum’s Open World PvP have also been included.
