The latest Battlefield 3 DLC – Back to Karkand – featuring four classic Battlefield maps which have been given the remake treatment using the Frostbite 2.0 engine – will be available to PS3 players on Tuesday, December 6th. Xbox 360 and PC players will need to wait until December 13th to acess the content, given the fact all DLC for Battlefield 3 is released a week early on PS3.

The four maps include Wake Island, Sharqi Peninsula, Gulf of Oman and Strike at Karkand, and the DLC will also include three new vehicles – the Desert Buggy, VSTOL fighter jet and an APC. Ten new weapons which are compatible across all multiplayer maps will also be added with the DLC.

The weapons themselves will be unlocked via completion of a series of in-game challenges called ‘Assignments’. Let it Rain, which is the first assignment in the series, will require players to nab 20 kills with the LMG and 2 kills with a mortar. Once this is completed, the next assignment in the series is unlocked. We won’t spoil all the assignments, but we do like the aptly named ‘Like A Boss!’ assignment.

Back to Karkand will be free for all players who purchased Battlefield 3’s Limited Edition, and will set others back $14.99, or 1200MSP.
