battlefield4-banner-1Enough with the teases, and the rain soaked screens, and the six second clips on Vine.  Battlefield 4 has been officially unveiled in a big way.  A whopping 17 minutes of gameplay has been released, and you can watch it by reading on.

You many recall that teaser site that EA opened last week, promising a big reveal on March 27th.  Well, that day has come and EA has delivered.  The gameplay video runs a little over 17 minutes, and can be seen below.  A warning, though: it’s pretty much nonstop ultra-realistic carnage and profanity.  So if that’s not your thing, you might want to skip it.

By now, the “OMG is that CG?” thing has become a little stale, but… no, that wasn’t CG.  That was all in-game footage, made possible by the new Frostbite 3 game engine from developer DICE.  According to the press release from EA, Battlefield 4 will be released this fall, and will all but certainly be available for both current and next generation hardware.  Head on over to the Battlefield website to check out a behind the scenes look at the game’s reveal, and the numerous pre-order options available.

Joe was born in a time of war. A console war. Two electronic titans were locked in a heated battle for the living rooms of America. Which titans, you ask? Well, the Fairchild Channel F and the Atari 2600 of course. You see, Joe is old. So many of his favorite games tend to be on the older side as well. But that hasn’t stopped him from developing unhealthy obsessions with such modern franchises as Halo and Mass Effect. Just don’t tell him how long it’s been since the original Metroid was released. His aging heart can’t take the shock.
