Grab a change of pants, and watch the new Daylight trailer

daylight-bannerThe survival horror genre has been around quite a while.  By now, most gamers have a pretty good idea of what’s in store for them when they pick up a surivial game,  But a new title called Daylight hopes to change all that, combining innovative gameplay with next gen graphics and good old fashioned scares.  Read on to check out the brand new trailer.

Daylight is currently being developed by the appropriately titled Zombie Studios, and has a pretty basic setup: players wake up in an abandoned hospital, not knowing how they got there.  It is then up to the player to explore the hospital and surrounding environments with only a smartphone to guide your way.  Let’s hope you downloaded a flashlight app, because you’re gonna need it.  The hook with Daylight is that the environments are all procedurally generated, meaning no two playthroughs will ever be the same.  Sure, Resident Evil is scary, but once you know when the zombie dog is going to come bursting through the glass, a lot of the fun is lost.  In Daylight, you’ll never really know what’s waiting for you around every dark corner.  Sound like fun?  Check out the trailer below.

Damn, I think I just procedurally crapped my pants.  Daylight is one of the first console games to be developed using the next generation Unreal 4 engine, and even at this early stage, the graphics look impressive.  The game is currently slated for an early 2014 release on PC and PS4.  Once we have a firm release date, we’ll let you know.

Joe was born in a time of war. A console war. Two electronic titans were locked in a heated battle for the living rooms of America. Which titans, you ask? Well, the Fairchild Channel F and the Atari 2600 of course. You see, Joe is old. So many of his favorite games tend to be on the older side as well. But that hasn’t stopped him from developing unhealthy obsessions with such modern franchises as Halo and Mass Effect. Just don’t tell him how long it’s been since the original Metroid was released. His aging heart can’t take the shock.
