Starcraft World Championship Series Australian finals August 11-12

On the weekend of 11-12 August, Australian Technology Park in Sydney will be playing host to the Australian National and Oceanic Finals of the Starcraft World Championship Series.

The series is the largest that Blizzard have organised here, and it sports a whopping $25 000 in prizemoney. That might seem like pocketchange to professional gamers in China or Korea, but for down-under gamers it represents a significant prize pool.

18 of the best players from both Australia and New Zealand will go head to head to decide the winners of the series. The Aussie finals will be held on Saturday, the winners squaring off against New Zealand players on the Sunday for the Oceanic Championships. The two winners of this Championship will go on to compete in the Battlenet World Championship to be held in China.

Given that entry to the Oceanic finals weekend is free, there’s no reason not to attend. Check the official Australian Cyber League Website for more information.
