Mass Effect 3 – Omega DLC Review

As a huge fan of the Mass Effect series, it’s always a joy to hear new DLC has been released for the blockbuster title. This is doubly true for the latest DLC for Mass Effect 3 – Omega – given this DLC focuses on one of the more…theatrical characters of the ME Verse – Aria T’Loak.

Review – Need for Speed: Most Wanted

There are games that hold a special place in your heart – ones that you look back on with fond memories because your experience when playing them was magical. The original Need for Speed: Most Wanted was this kind of game for me. I am pleased to say that the current re-imagining of Need for Speed: Most Wanted by Criterion and EA Games retains all the magic I remember, and adds more.

Review: Medal of Honor – Warfighter

medalhonorw

The modern militaristic shooter is a crowded genre, already featuring heavy hitters like the Call of Duty franchise. For a game to stand out amidst the shooter crowd, it needs to be a powerhouse in its own right – well executed and planned gameplay must combine with excellently realised set pieces, responsive control mechanics, logical AI and strong visuals and storytelling. Unfortunately for Medal of Honor Warfighter, it fails in every single one of these elements.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown

XComTitle copy

I never played X-com: UFO Defense so when I picked up XCOM: Enemy Unknown I didn’t quite know what to expect. What I got was an amazing mix of turn based strategy, resource management and a series of lose-lose scenarios. For months I had been looking for a tactical game to sink my teeth into and despite a few bugs and odd design choices, XCOM proved to be exactly what I wanted.

And Walking Down the Aisle…WWE13

WWE 13_Screenshots_01

Let’s be honest, you are either a wrestling fan or you aren’t. So let’s just say that this game is almost exclusively meant and designed for wrestling fans. So if you aren’t, this review probably wouldn’t mean much to you period. But for you wrestling fans, I know many of you are disenfranchised with the television product right now.  Hear me out. WWE13 provides that experience that many of us have been left wanting for some years. That feeling of old when the magic of wrestling is oozing from the ring is here and it’s here in so many ways.

The Empress’ Outlaw – Dishonored Review

dishonored1

The First Person Sneaker is one of those polarising sub-genres; you either love it or you hate it. Some people don’t have the time for it either due to lack of patience, skill or interest. Others lap it up.

Review – PES 2013

pes2013

We’ve decided to tackle our review of PES 2013 in a different way to usual – this review is a two-in-one. We’ve asked two people with very different past experiences with soccer games to provide their thoughts. Sacha is a soccer fan and enjoys playing soccer games, whilst Tash is a complete newbie when it comes to all things soccer. By asking both to share their thoughts, we’re hoping to canvas two very different outlooks – a review from someone familiar with soccer and soccer games, and a review from a total beginner. Is PES 2013 able to appeal to […]

Review: Retro City Rampage

retrocityr

Retro City Rampage began as Brian Provinciano’s remake of Grand Theft Auto 3 for the NES, and much like the GTA games, you start off doing one thing, then get distracted which results in having more fun playing around than you would have if you just finished the mission. I’m glad this game exists. So many games rely on some pixel art and a couple of “A winner is you” references and think that it accurately captures what the 80’s pop culture/video game scene was like. Retro City Rampage finally gets it right.

The Testament of Sherlock Holmes

sherlock

I’m a detective!  Or at least that’s the sentiment I have when I’m playing The Testament of Sherlock Holmes. I only found out about it a few days before release, and decided to take a gander and see what Frogwares had developed. I realized my purchase was the right one when the game reminded me to save, and when during the loading screen I received a historical tidbit. I am almost finished the game and I can still say that this purchase is definitely worthwhile.

Rock Band Blitz Review

rockbandblitz

The plastic instrument revolution has come and gone. The days and nights of strumming, drumming and singing off-key are no more. While Guitar Hero faded away in sequel after sequel, Rock Band took this opportunity to evolve. Rock Band Blitz manages to radically change the way we play, but still have the player feel like they are playing the music.
