“Radballs!” – Keep Running with Mr. Runner 2: The Masks

Every morning for the last week or so I’ve been waking up and playing a good solid 20 minutes at a time of the newly released for iOS, Mr. Runner 2: The Masks from Zing Games.  Twenty minutes is a long time to play a mobile casual endless runner, particularly when there’s an ugly cat trying it’s best to get you out of bed so it can be fed, so I think it’s safe to say that Mr. Runner 2 does something very right.

Review – Metal Gear Rising Revengeance

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance sees you stepping into the high-heeled boots of cyborg ninja Raiden as he slices and dices his way through enemies with a focus on action over stealth. Revengeance is the ninth main game in the Metal Gear series, but does it reach the critically acclaimed lofty heights of its predecessors? Simply put – no, it does not.

Review – Tomb Raider

2013 will be marked as the year that famed heroine Lara Croft made her remarkable return to the gaming industry. Despite some truly engaging innovation and an origin story that promises an emotional connection to the title that supports its various gameplay mechanics, the true question is: is this the Tomb Raider that fans have been waiting for, or is this a DMC: Devil May Cry type of reboot that caters more to the new fans rather than the traditionalists? By the end of this article, you should have your answer!

Getting the band back together

Dust off your canes, your sleep darts, and your vans ladies and gentlemen, The Cooper gang is back in town. When we last saw our friends, they’d just unlocked the Cooper Vault by defeating the evil Dr. M and going down the lineage of the Cooper family, using their storied and useful thieving techniques with Sly to witness his family’s history and understand the infamy that comes with the Cooper name. Well, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, takes that to an entirely new level.

Review – Dead Space 3

It’s Necromorphs, Necromorphs everywhere, with Dead Space 3 marking the third game where dismembering limbs is the song to saving your skin. But with three games in, is the tune a little too overplayed? Have Dead Space’s scary monsters lost their fear factor? The answer to these questions is a resounding HELL NO.

Review – Mass Effect: Paragon Lost

Mass Effect: Paragon Lost is an anime feature film tie-in set in the Mass Effect universe. Available to buy through Madman Entertainment, Paragon Lost is a collaborative effort by Bioware and Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell, Kill Bill: Vol 1). It’s an excellent addition to the Mass Effect verse, and it offers something for both die-hard fans and those new to the series.

Review – Devil May Cry

Ninja Theory’s new Devil May Cry sure is one hell of a ride. It immediately throws you into a demonic version of reality, which is a decaying and interactively evolving version of Earth, called Limbo. The new Dante can be ‘pulled’ into Limbo seemingly at will by the demons who inhabit it, and the world dramatically changes around him. The first level of the game takes place on the Santa Monica Pier (or something very similar) and it quickly evolves into a red, hyper-aesthetic and uncontrollably exciting nightmare.

Dead or Alive 5 Review – How do you weaponise a ninja?

Straight up; I’m no expert on fighting games, having only played them casually Back in the Day. Additionally, my only contact with the Dead or Alive series was the movie, which I’m convinced is a parody of video game movies more than anything else. Though I’m kind of scared how much character recognition this gave me during this review.

Far Cry 3 Review

Far Cry 3 is a deep, violent and drug-fuelled venture into a lush, tropical island with an unforgiving and dominant underworld. Aside from Rook Island’s dark pretences, you play how you want to play, do exactly what you want to do and as a result your experience will be entirely unique. You can fight your way through the main quest armed with the weapon of your choosing, or maybe explore ancient ruins, dive into mysterious caves, tackle bullsharks or walk among locals. Rook Island is yours – well, aside from the pirates, madmen and an inescapable principle of violence.
