EA and Bioware unveil Shadow Realms – an online action RPG

I’ll be honest. I’m an unashamed Bioware fangirl. It’s at the point where I’d probably play a sports game made by Bioware, simply because it’s Bioware. Thankfully for my sanity, the latest IP announced from the award winning studio is not a sports game but is an online action RPG called Shadow Realms. And boy, does it look intriguing.

Hands on preview: Naruto Shippuden – Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution

The Ultimate Ninja games on PS2 were one of those series that my friends and I would whip out at gatherings every now and then. They were easy to pick up and play, and seeing our favourite characters beat the crud out of each other with their special moves was always exciting. I haven’t watched the anime in a while, nor have I played any of the Ultimate Ninja Storm games, but when given the chance to try out the upcoming instalment, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution, I wouldn’t say no!

The latest trailer to be released is called ‘World Setting’, and to summarise my reaction after watching it: holy crap I need this game NOW.

Hands on preview – Project CARS

“Have you played a racing simulator before?” I’m asked as I stand in Bandai Namco’s Sydney office. “I’ve… tried to” I reply. This elicits a laugh. “Yeah, that’s a good answer”. I won’t pretend that I’m the target audience of Project CARS (which is short for Community Assisted Racing Simulator) because I’m really not. It’s designed for people who take racing games seriously, who know all the famous circuits like the back of their hand, and understand the differences between all the classes of cars besides “These ones are faster”. I’m not great at racing games, and I lack the […]

DLC Review – Dark Souls 2: Crown of the Sunken King

8 out of 10 Great

Sometimes, I wonder why I do this. It’s 2am. I’m reeling from yet another death, handed ignomiously to me by another almost impossible to kill Dark Souls 2 denizen. My patience is on a razor edge, I’m so close to throwing the controller down and walking away. And yet I press forward, telling myself I’ll continue for just a little longer, that I’ll try just one more time. Because the challenge of progressing to the next bonfire to save your game, whilst oh so maddening, also leads to the sweetest reward when achieved. This is what Dark Souls 2 does […]
