Read more »Sometimes a game doesn’t bring anything exceptionally new to the table, but is still an enjoyable experience. This is definitely true of Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow 2. It combines a Metroidvania structure with God Of War-esque combat and ties it all together with an absolutely gorgeous game world, and an interesting character journey. It may not push any boundaries, but it’s definitely a game worth playing.
Read more »The absurd concept of Telltale’s The Wolf Among Us makes it a hard sell. After all, the desire to follow a noire thriller starring The Big Bad Wolf as he tracks down a serial killer in a town full of fairy tale characters requires a cross section of a lot of niche interests. Despite the odd mix of materials, Telltale manages to stitch up a quality tale in the first episode, and for the most part, the company does it again in episode 2, although the seams are starting to look a little frayed.
Read more »From the first E3 trailer I saw of Beyond: Two Souls I could not wait to have it in my hands and figure out just what was going on. It is an amazing to see developer Quantic Dream take concepts from earlier games Indigo Prophecy (aka Fahrenheit) and Heavy Rain and hone them into something fresh and unique. It is clear that Quantic Dream looked at what didn’t work in Heavy Rain and either fixed or avoided them all together.
