Battlefield 4 beta launching Autumn 2013

Calling all Battlefield fans – EA has announced that the beta for the next installment of the series – Battlefield 4 – will launch in Autumn 2013.

And how do you gain access to this beta? By pre-ordering the Medal of Honor Warfighter Limited Edition, of course. Pre-ordering a game to receive access to the beta of a completely different series – makes total sense. Not that this is a surprising move on EA’s part, of course – the company has dabbled in cross-promotional items before – remember the Mass Effect 3 and Kingdoms of Amalur cross-promotion earlier this year?

The official word from EA regarding the reasoning behind linking the two series’ in this manner has to do with the technology each game has as their base, explained Frank Gibeau, president of EA Labels:

“Though Battlefield and Medal of Honor Warfighter each offer players a completely unique experience, they are united by their underlying technology base – Frostbite. These are two of the hottest shooters, coming together to deliver a one-two punch of action, intensity and shooter entertainment.”

Those of you wanting to grab a copy of Medal of Honor Warfighter for your own collection (or simply for the beta access to Battlefield 4) should mark October 23rd in your calendar if you live in North America; October 25th if you live in PAL territories; and October 26th if you live in the UK.

Medal of Honor Warfighter will release on PS3, Xbox360, PC, Will U and PS Vita.
