Capcom’s Remember Me gets a release date & new trailer

Last we heard of Remember Me, it was being shown off at last year’s Gamescom.  Since then, there hasn’t been much to report on the title.  All that changed today as Capcom announced a release date, and showed off a brand new trailer.  Read on for all the details.

If you’re scratching your head, trying to remember what Remember Me is, let me give you a little refresher.  The game takes place in the year 2084, in a dystopian Paris where memories are a commodity.  You play as Nilin, a memory hunter with the unique ability to rewrite, or “remix” memories.  When the giant (probably evil) corporation she worked for steals her memories, she must rediscover who she is, and why her former bosses turned on her.  The game seems to mix the urban platforming of Mirror’s Edge with the button mashing of a third person brawler.  But enough of my overwrought descriptions.  Check out the trailer for yourself below.

Remember Me will launch on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC this June 4th.  It will be interesting to see how this new IP performs, with a new generation of consoles looming on the horizon.  Could it be another God of War?  A surprise hit, late in the life of a console, that started an entire franchise?  Or will it be drowned out by the noise of another console war?  I guess we’ll find out this June.

Joe was born in a time of war. A console war. Two electronic titans were locked in a heated battle for the living rooms of America. Which titans, you ask? Well, the Fairchild Channel F and the Atari 2600 of course. You see, Joe is old. So many of his favorite games tend to be on the older side as well. But that hasn’t stopped him from developing unhealthy obsessions with such modern franchises as Halo and Mass Effect. Just don’t tell him how long it’s been since the original Metroid was released. His aging heart can’t take the shock.
