CD Projekt Red – Third Installment of the Witcher series possible
CD Projekt Red appear to be open to a third installment in the popular Witcher series, if comments made by Jan Bartkowicz are anything to go by. Speaking in an interview with The-Witcher.de Bartkowicz stated that as the first game finished on a cliffhanger, and the second left things open-ended, a third game in the series would be the next logical step. Check out his comments below.
The quote from Jan Bartkowicz:
“Consider this example, for comparison, films like Pirates of the Caribbean, where the first [has a ]self-contained story, the later is unchangeable, but then you think, it should be a trilogy. So people have a problem then. The end of The Witcher 2 is the beginning of much larger events, while The Witcher [had] rather a cliffhanger ending.”
Adding more fuel to the speculative fire, CD Projekt is currently hiring new staff for their team, and are specifically looking for a designer with knowledge of ‘the Witcher lore’ being a ‘plus’.
So a third Witcher game might be on the cards, but don’t expect any official announcement from CD Projekt anytime soon. They’re busy putting the polish on the Xbox360 version before it releases next year, as well as supporting the already released PC version.
