Fallout MMO Rights Restored to Bethesda Softworks

fallout34

After a lengthy litigation between Bethesda and Interplay, who had previously been licensed to make a Fallout MMO, full rights have been restored to Bethesda.  Bethesda claims that Interplay failed to meet the requirements for the license and the deal should be null and void.  Apparently the legal folks thought so too.

There’s a whole bunch of legalese that you can read here on Bethesda’s official blog, but the short story is this:  Interplay wasn’t doing anything, Bethesda got the rights to the IP back.  Whether or not this means an MMO will actually make its way to our consoles or PCs remains to be seen, but I for one think it seems likely.
