Four million users log in to play League of Legends everyday

Riot Games have announced that over four million people log in to play their online multiplayer battle arena game, League of Legends, every day. This represents a 280% growth since their previous announcement regarding the size of the community in July. Adding to the stats, Riot announced there are 11.5 million monthly active players, who have participated in over one billion matches.

That’s a lot of matches. And given League of Legends is currently gearing up for its second competive eSports season, this is definitely fortuitous. Perhaps everyone is practicing for that five million dollar prizepool, the biggest in the history of eSports, which Riot has announced as the spoils for the second season.

Those players not competing can expect extensive coverage of all matches, with game features like ranked teams and spectator mode.

They probably can’t expect five million dollars though. Which is a shame. I’d sure like five million dollars…..
