Gamescom Trailerpalooza 2013 – Day One
Gamescom, the world’s largest gaming convention has over again taken over Cologne, Germany, and many of the world’s most prominent developers and publishers are there to show off their upcoming titles. We’ve collected all the biggest trailers in one place for your viewing pleasure. Read on to experience Trailerpalooza.
Fresh off their smackdown of Microsoft at E3, Sony came into Gamescom with a wealth of new footage to show off. First up is a look at the multiplayer for Killzone Shadow Fall, which apparently has no colon in the title.
Staying in the Killzone universe, Sony had brand new footage for their upcoming Vita title, Killzone: Mercenary, which does have a colon in the title. Weird, right?
Next up is a new trailer for Knack, the latest wacky action platformer from Mark Cerny. You might remember Mark from such franchises as Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, and Ratchet & Clank. Dude’s got some serious cred, and his newest game looks like it’ll fit in nicely with its predecessors.
And then there’s Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs, starring the appropriately trench coated and gravelly voiced hacker hero Aiden Pearce. In this newest trailer, it appears that even other hackers are hatin on Aiden.
Speaking of brooding, hat wearing dudes who like to stick it to the Man, check out the newest trailer from inFAMOUS Second Son. No colon.
Sony also unveiled a brand new game called Helldivers. A top-down squad-based shooter, Helldivers will be available on PS4, PS3, and Vita when it is released.
If you want to see more from the Sony press conference, you can watch the whole damn thing below. It features some truly amazing footage of the audience watching the trailers and demos. Good job, Sony Press Conference Director Person. Also, you gotta skip past about 20 minutes of title card.
EA was at Gamescom too, with their own would-be blockbusters to show off. First up is a new look at the multiplayer for Battlefield 4.
Next up is a fresh look at Titanfall gameplay. Forgive my language, but holy sh*tball sundaes, does this game look amazing. The mechs, and the jetpacks, and the running on walls, and the… OK, just watch.
Speaking of amazing, how about that new game from Bioware? Dragon Age: Inquisition (yes, there’s a colon) seems to be coming together quite nicely, as this new developer diary shows.
EA also offered an in-depth look at The Sims 4. This extended trailer covers everything from the new create-a-Sim system, to house building, to the ways in which emotions will enhance gameplay.
And then there’s the latest entry in the venerable Need for Speed franchise, Need for Speed Rivals. Nope, no colon.
If that wasn’t enough, you can check out the entire EA Gamescom press conference below, courtesy of IGN. You’ll see new stuff from EA Sports, Plants vs. Zombies, and Peggle. PEGGLE!
That’ll do it for this edition of Trailerpalooza. We’ll be back after a short intermission with more from Gamescom 2013.
