Gearbox releases new Homeworld Remastered trailer
Fans of the classic RTS game Homeworld have been eagerly anticipating the release of a remastered version of the game. With the launch date quickly approaching, developer Gearbox Software has releases a new trailer for the game, delving into Homeworld’s story, and showing off some of the updated graphics. Read on to see it for yourself.
Originally released back in 1999, Relic Entertainment’s Homeworld was a huge commercial and critical success. It was the first truly three dimensional real time strategy game, and combined excellent graphics, huge space battles and a compelling story to create an instant classic. The game was followed by two sequels in 2000 and 2003 before gradually fading from the spotlight. After THQ went bankrupt in 2013, Gearbox Software acquired the rights to the Homeworld franchise, and announced the development of remastered versions of Homeworld and Homeworld 2. Developed with the assistance and guidance of some of the original game’s creators, Homeworld Remastered will contain all new high resolution graphics, remixed audio, and an overhauled multiplayer experience.
If you’re a little rusty on the game’s premise, or you haven’t been keeping up to date on the new version’s development, check out the new trailer below, and consider yourself caught up.
