Play Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 and support the Australian Red Cross.

castlevania-lords-shadow-bannerGamers have a long, proud history of supporting good causes.  From Child’s Play, to Extra Life, to countless other charities, we never hesitate to give of ourselves to those in need.  One of the most precious things one can give is blood, and an upcoming event in Sydney will offer gamers a chance to check out Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 while learning the importance of blood donation.  Read on for the details.

The event is being sponsored the Australian Red Cross Blood Service and Mindscape, and will be taking place this Thursday, January 30 in Sydney.  Attendees will be able to get their hands on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 a month before it gets released to stores.  A sequel to the original Lords of Shadow, the game places players in the role of Gabriel Belmont, who you might know by his other name; Dracula.  Taking place in a vast open world across multiple time periods, the game looks to offer a fresh take on the classic Castlevania combat formula, and will be released at the end of February on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.  Sound like it’s worth a look?

The event will run from 5pm to 7pm this Thursday, January 30 at the Australian Red Cross Elizabeth St. Donor Center, 20 Elizabeth St, Sydney.  In addition to playing Castlevania, you’ll be able to learn more about blood donation, and the vital role it plays in healthcare.

If you can’t make it to the event, but you still feel like doing something awesome for someone in need, you can still donate blood.  Whether you’re in Australia or the United States.

Joe was born in a time of war. A console war. Two electronic titans were locked in a heated battle for the living rooms of America. Which titans, you ask? Well, the Fairchild Channel F and the Atari 2600 of course. You see, Joe is old. So many of his favorite games tend to be on the older side as well. But that hasn’t stopped him from developing unhealthy obsessions with such modern franchises as Halo and Mass Effect. Just don’t tell him how long it’s been since the original Metroid was released. His aging heart can’t take the shock.
