Project Eternity gets a new name, first gameplay trailer
After a period of relative silence, Obsidian kicked the doors of their studio wide open today with the first gameplay trailer for Project Eternity, now renamed Pillars of Eternity. Has a certain rings to it, doesn’t it? Read on for all the details, and to check out the trailer for yourself.
Obsidian made huge news back in September of 2012 when they announced Project Eternity, its first Kickstarter project. In their pitch, Obsidian promised that Project Eternity would be a return to the isometric, real time role playing games of the past which had fallen out of favor with big publishers. Fans of Baldur’s Gate leaped at the chance, successfully funding the Kickstarter campaign in a single day, and eventually giving Obsidian millions of dollars to make the game. Now, over a year later, we’re getting our first real look at the game in action. Check out the newly renamed Pillars of Eternity below.
That is some seriously glorious old school action. I am c:/excited. If this is the first time you’re hearing about Pillars of Eternity, and you’re already smacking yourself in the face for missing the chance to get in on the fun, relax. And stop hitting yourself. You’re scaring me. Obsidian is still taking pre-orders for the game on their website. As of yet, there is no release date for Pillars of Eternity beyond a nebulous “winter 2014,” but it’s reassuring to see that serious progress on the game is being made.
