Rumored February release date for Diablo 3 shot down by Blizzard
If you were hoping that the rumored February release date for Diablo III was true, prepare to be disappointed, with Blizzard’s Community Manager, Micah Whiple saying that any retailer listings are not official. Whiple took to twitter to state that “retailers will not know a date until its officially announced through a press release.” Which means that Best Buy and Gameplay’s weekend listings pegging a Diablo III release in February aren’t at all official and merely guesswork on behalf of the stores.
To further emphasise the point, Whiple reiterated that Blizzard has not as yet provided an official launch date for their highly anticipated 2012 release and that “any store or person claiming otherwise is guessing.”
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Diablo fans, but it seems this February release was simply some hopeful thinking on behalf of the abovementioned retailers.
