SEGA Studios Australia ‘restructuring’ means 37 jobs lost

In more sad news for the Australian Gaming Industry today, Kotaku Australia are reporting that Sega Studios Australia has made 37 of its staffmembers redundant, following a restructuring of the company. This number represents almost half of the studios’ staffmembers, and is another blow to the already suffering Aussie Dev industry.

In an email to Kotaku Australia, Sega Studios Australia states:

The decision to downsize was not taken lightly but this strategic re-structure will ensure we have a more effective and agile team that will enable us to quickly adapt to consumer needs and deliver strong content across multiple digital platforms.

Regardless of the reasons for the restructuring decision, 37 people are now effectively out of a job, and this is never good news.

Save Game wishes all those affected a quick turn-around to a new job within the industry. For the full email, head on over to Kotaku Australia.
