The Sims franchise to feature Katy Perry

Just when you think you’ve seen it all in video game news reporting, a story comes along that makes you ask what?! EA has announced that it is partnering with Katy Perry to produce and develop multiple games within the sims franchise which will showcase Katy Perry themed content and items. The first of these Perry-themed games will be the special Collector’s Edition of The Sims 3: Showtime, due to hit store shelves in March.

The themed content will include fashions, a hairstyle, themed stage props and a poster, in addition to a guitar and even a bonus venue.

And in case you forget about this new collaboration, Katy Perry will be featured heavily in upcoming marketing of the uber series – just what we love to see!

Katy will apparently be working closely with the studio to develop clothing, fashions, accessories, props and furniture for upcoming Sims games. And she seems to be a fan of the games as well:

“I love how you’re able to play out different stories through your Sims characters – giving them different careers and watching them succeed. It’s cool to see the Sims’ stage performances in The Sims 3 Showtime decked out just like my California Dreams Tour – even my cotton candy video screens are in there! I always like to think of myself as a cartoon, and now I’m a Sim!”

The first of what we can assume to be a deluge of Katy Perry focused trailers is included below.

Good celebrity wrangling effort, EA. But I’m sorry to tell you that you come out second best in celebrity in-game showings. THQ put Burt Reynolds in Saints Row: The Third. BURT. REYNOLDS. You just can’t top that.
