Titanfall Expedition trailer reveals three new maps

titanfall-expeditionAre you starting to get a little burned out on Titanfall?  Worried that you’ve experienced everything the game has to offer?  Been tempted to see how much you can get for it on trade-in?  Well, don’t trade it in just yet.  Respawn Entertainment has sensed your concerns, and has released a trailer showing off the contents of its upcoming Expedition DLC pack.  Read on for the details.

We all knew this DLC was coming, but it sure is nice to finally see some new content with our own eyes.  Respawn is calling their upcoming DLC the Expedition Pack, and it will include three new maps: Runoff, Swamplands and Wargames.  If you’re having trouble visualizing them just from their titles, fear not.  There’s a nifty trailer a little farther down the page that will show them off in all their next gen graphical splendor.  But first, how about a little exposition?  While it’s true that Titanfall is a multiplayer-only game, that doesn’t mean there isn’t some story mixed in to give meaning to the human-on-titan carnage.  The maps in the Expedition pack all fit into the larger Titanfall universe, as Respawn explains below.

In the wake of the Battle of Demeter, IMC Expeditionary Forces travel deep into Frontier space to recover from their recent defeat. On an uncharted world, the IMC begin construction of a new fleet operations base, using newly acquired water collection and filtration plants to support the new base. When drainage operations reveal ancient ruins and artifacts of an unknown origin in a nearby swamp, Spyglass activates an archaeological team to investigate the site. To maintain battle readiness at the new base, IMC Pilots use simulation pods to train for anticipated Militia raids, based on lessons learned in Angel City and IMC Airbase Sierra.

There.  Make sense?  Good, now on with that trailer I promised you.

While there isn’t a firm release date for Titanfall Expedition yet, it is expected to launch for the PC and Xbox One before the end of the month.  The Xbox 360 version will follow in June.  The pack will come with the three maps, plus additional content which is still “to be determined.”  I’m guessing zebra and leopard print Titan skins.  The Expedition pack will sell for $9.99 on its own, or can be purchased as part of the season pass for $24.99.

Joe was born in a time of war. A console war. Two electronic titans were locked in a heated battle for the living rooms of America. Which titans, you ask? Well, the Fairchild Channel F and the Atari 2600 of course. You see, Joe is old. So many of his favorite games tend to be on the older side as well. But that hasn’t stopped him from developing unhealthy obsessions with such modern franchises as Halo and Mass Effect. Just don’t tell him how long it’s been since the original Metroid was released. His aging heart can’t take the shock.
