PAX Prime has kicked off in Seattle Washington, and Saints Row developer Volition was there with a duo of big announcements.  Next gen ports of Saints Row 4 will be releasing this January alongside a brand new expansion, Saints Row: Gat out of Hell.  It looks as awesome as it sounds.  Read on for all the saintly details.

Earlier today, Saints Row developer Volition took to the stage at PAX Prime to announce a brand new expansion for Saints Row 4. Gat Out of Hell.  The expansion will be a stand alone experience, and answers the question of where the Saints could possibly go after conquering the known universe.  The answer?  Hell, naturally.  In Gat Out of Hell, The Boss has been abducted by Satan, and taken to the city of New Hades.  Satan’s evil plan is to force The Boss into marrying his daughter, and it’s up to Johnny Gat and Kinzie Kensington to rescue them.  In classic Saints Row fashion, players will be able to explore an all new sandbox environment and complete the game’s campaign however they wish, either by burning through the story quests, or by taking your time, completing diversions, and searching for hidden loot.  Super powers will be making a return, with the addition of angelic flight, holy auras, and demonic summons.  Seven deadly weapons have also been added, each meant to embody one of the seven deadly sins.  Check out the trailer below.

Look like fun?  Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell can either be played solo, or co-op with a friend, and will be released January 27th in North America and January 30th internationally.  It will retail for $20, and be available on current and next generation consoles, as well as PC.  Yes, I said next generation consoles.  The Saints will be making the jump to PS4 and Xbox One in January as well with Saints Row 4: Re-Elected.  Along with the expected graphical upgrade, Re-Elected will come with all previously releases DLC for Saints Row 4.  It releases on the same day as Gat Out of Hell.

Joe was born in a time of war. A console war. Two electronic titans were locked in a heated battle for the living rooms of America. Which titans, you ask? Well, the Fairchild Channel F and the Atari 2600 of course. You see, Joe is old. So many of his favorite games tend to be on the older side as well. But that hasn’t stopped him from developing unhealthy obsessions with such modern franchises as Halo and Mass Effect. Just don’t tell him how long it’s been since the original Metroid was released. His aging heart can’t take the shock.
