Xbox 360 version of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance cancelled in Japan

Japanese Xbox 360 owners (i’m sure there’s at least a handful of them) will be saddened to hear that the planned Xbox360 version of Metal Gear Rising Revengeance has been cancelled.

The google translated statement originally posted on Kojima Productions’ website read:

Due to various reasons, the launch of the Japanese version will be only allowed to PlayStation 3. To the customers who have been looking forward to the launch on the Xbox360, as well as to everyone involved, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that will be caused.

If you have any questions on this matter, please contact our Customer Relations Office.

Following the statement’s release, Konami Europe, in a statement to MCV, were quick to re-assure European customers that the cancelled Japanese Xbox360 release in no way affects the title’s European release.

Given the Xbox 360’s very low installation base in Japan, this news is neither surprising nor unexpected. Still, it’s sad for those 5 Japanese Xbox 360 metal gear fans who were looking forward to the release.
