Sky’s the limit – CCP launching EVE character names and images into almost space
Talk about your interesting video gaming events. CCP, those responsible for the epic space MMO EVE Online, will be putting the names and images of every single one of their currently subscribed character accounts in EVE Online (as at 23:59 GMT) into a capsule, which they will then be shooting out into the very reaches of our planet’s atmosphere via high-altitude balloon.
Unfortunately for those players hoping that this means their character names and faces will be floating in the nether realms of space – the high altitude balloon isn’t capable of leaving our planet’s atmosphere – but it is able to fly hundreds of thousands of feet in the air. And really – that’s close enough to space that it counts, right?
The launching of the balloon will occur at Fanfest 2012, CCP’s event in Reykjavik, Iceland.
Interesting way of thanking their players, huh?
