Fixes and improvements coming to Infamous: Second Son

infamous-second-son-bannerIt hasn’t even been two weeks since the launch Infamous: Second Son, and developer Sucker Punch is already talking fixes.  Not the “OMG game is broken!” kind of fixes, though.  More like the “hey wouldn’t it be cool if…” kind of fixes, and they’re coming in the very near future.  Read on for all the details.

The new broke earlier today over on the official Playstation Blog, in a post written by Sucker Punch co-founder and producer Brian Fleming.  Fleming first took time to thank the loyal Infamous fans who showed up en masse for Second Son’s midnight launch a little under two weeks ago.  “I want to let you all know how much your enthusiasm and support means to us,” he said, “how it renews us, and readies us to go try to make even better games in the future.”  But as much as the folks at Sucker Punch enjoy basking in the warm glow of praise, they’re also busy listening to complaints.  In fact, they’ve already got a patch nearing completion which will address some of the more popular criticisms.  Among them are…

  • Time of Day Change: beating Second Son will unlock the option adjust the time of day.
  • HUD on & off: the ability to switch the heads up display on and off, which is a popular request from those who enjoy taking screenshots.
  • 30FPS Cap: for those who prefer a locked framerate, you’ll be able to cap if at 30fps.
  • Assorted bug fixes

Fleming also hints that “we may sneak a few other little things in too,” if the timing is right.  The patch should be ready in about two weeks.

Joe was born in a time of war. A console war. Two electronic titans were locked in a heated battle for the living rooms of America. Which titans, you ask? Well, the Fairchild Channel F and the Atari 2600 of course. You see, Joe is old. So many of his favorite games tend to be on the older side as well. But that hasn’t stopped him from developing unhealthy obsessions with such modern franchises as Halo and Mass Effect. Just don’t tell him how long it’s been since the original Metroid was released. His aging heart can’t take the shock.
