Ubisoft unveils new Assassin’s Creed 4 gameplay trailer

assassins-creed-4-bannerTo those Assassin’s Creed 3 players who thought “this naval combat rocks; they should make a whole game out of it,” your wishes have apparently been granted.  Ubisoft has released a new gameplay trailer for the 4th game in the series, Black Flag, and it is loaded with hardcore pirate action.  Read on for the details.

OK, for those of you thinking this trailer was some kind of fetish video, I’m sorry to disappoint you.  When I said hardcore pirate action, I meant that the trailer features Black Flag’s protagonist, Edward Kenway, kicking all kinds of ass on the high seas.  But if any of you get seasick, don’t worry.  The game will feature plenty of land based ass kicking too.  You can check out the all new gameplay trailer below.

I’m glad they included a shot of the hero jumping off a tall building, and stabbing some ignorant punk through the back of the neck.  No Assassin’s Creed trailer would be complete without that shot.  While relatively little is known about AC4’s plot, we do know that the game is set in 1715, and takes place in and around the Caribbean Islands.  Edward Kenway is the grandfather of Assassin’s Creed 3’s Connor, and is not only an assassin, but a privateer and a pirate as well.  The game will even feature real life pirates from the era including Blackbeard and Anne Bonny.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is scheduled for release this October 29th on PC and all current generation consoles, and at an unspecified future date on PS4 and the next Xbox, which will hopefully not be called Infinity.

Joe was born in a time of war. A console war. Two electronic titans were locked in a heated battle for the living rooms of America. Which titans, you ask? Well, the Fairchild Channel F and the Atari 2600 of course. You see, Joe is old. So many of his favorite games tend to be on the older side as well. But that hasn’t stopped him from developing unhealthy obsessions with such modern franchises as Halo and Mass Effect. Just don’t tell him how long it’s been since the original Metroid was released. His aging heart can’t take the shock.
