Review – Action Henk

7.5 out of 10 Good

“Ready?! GO!” If you’re planning on playing ‘Action Henk’, be prepared to hear these two words over and over again. Action Henk is a 2D time trial racer reminiscent of Sonic where you race around tracks constructed from toy car tracks, blocks of wood and jack in the box jumps as garish 90s inspired action figures. The tracks are short but you will spend plenty of time trying to complete the perfect run with every minor mistake making you instinctively hit the reset button to attempt the track all over again. However, instead of utilizing moves like Sonic’s spin dash […]

Review: The Evil Within Story DLC – The Assignment & The Consequence

Tango Gameworks and Bethesda’s The Evil Within promised “a return to the roots of survival horror”, and with one of the fathers of the genre Shinji Mikami at the helm, it definitely had plenty of potential. Sadly, the game was heavily marred by technical bugs, poor design choices and an almost incomprehensible narrative. All the key ingredients for a great game were there, but they weren’t executed properly. But it seems old Shinji and his pals had a few tricks left up their sleeves, and the two story-focused DLC’s, The Assignment and The Consequence almost completely redeem the franchise. Many […]

Pokemon Rumble World – the Save Game Review

Pokemon Rumble is a kids game. Pokemon Rumble World is a free game with pay-to-play options, developed for the Nintendo 3DS. You’d think that mixing a beloved franchise and pay-to-play would be bad for business, or at least create something that’s just awful, but I’m honest in saying that despite its simplicity, Pokemon Rumble World isn’t half bad.

Bladestorm: Nightmare – The Save Game Review

5 out of 10 Average

Bladestorm: Nightmare is a near seven year old game rejigged for the new era of consoles, although why anyone thought it was a good idea to do that, instead of just building an entirely new game, is beyond me. It’s like someone in the back office wasn’t ready to pull the trigger on a sequel, and settled on another cliched ‘HD update’ instead.

Battlefield Hardline – the Save Game review

The music blasts out of the speakers as I fly down the street, bullets ricocheting off the car all around me as the police try to take me, or the car, out of play.  My comrades lean out the windows and return fire, buying me time to get away when BOOM, hit by an RPG. Respawn. Find the guy who killed you. Pull the sexy man pose. Battlefield Hardline is always fun.

The Sims 4: Get to Work – Jen’s Take

angela8

The Sims 4: Get to Work is the newest expansion for this life sucking time draining reality ruining game. Naturally I have played as many hours as my body and mind would allow (this is way too many hours) and I have some things to say about the new features and additions.

Following the trend of every other major successful AAA title released in the past couple of years, 2K and Gearbox have also upgraded two of their Borderlands games for new generation consoles in The Handsome Collection. Who knew you needed to see the unique yet simplistic cel-shaded art style of Borderlands in even higher definition?

Shelter 2 – The Save Game Review

7.5 out of 10 Good

The survival genre of video games has become synonymous with horror over the years. Zombies, mutants and all sorts of sinister abominations are the forces we’re used to battling against. But Shelter 2 is a very different kind of survival game. In it, you take on the forces of nature itself, and you don’t even do it as a human. No guns, no med packs, just the will to survive, and protect those who need you most.

La-Mulana EX – The Save Game Review

プリント
7 out of 10 Good

There are many that believe that games these days are far too easy to survive, with auto-saves and checkpoints every two minutes to ensure you never have to go back too far.  These days you don’t often get to experience the frustration of reloading a save after dying and realising that the save is from an hour and a half before. In La-Mulana EX for the PS Vita, this is exactly what can, and most likely will, happen. The difficulty in this game is such that I was not able to finish it before I wrote this, which is […]

Review – The Order 1886

7 out of 10 Good

Not too long ago I wrote a prediction list for 2015, which included the probability that The Order: 1886 would be the first major fail for the year. That prediction was based solely on the massive amount of hype for the game leading up to release, not unlike Watch Dogs, which I believed may lead to the game not matching those expectations. For the most part I was right, but not due to that reason alone.
