Review – The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt (5)
9.5 out of 10 Excellent Recommended

Even in writing this, in putting a summation of my experience with the game down into words, I still don’t know how one would actually review The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. CD Projekt Red’s third instalment in the life of the titular witcher, Geralt of Rivia, is a game that feels larger than any of the behemoths one might encounter while playing.

CD Projekt’s REDengine 3 is going to make realism…realer.

cyberpunk-banner

CD Projekt Red is continuing it’s long and cruel tradition of making things that will probably never run on my PC.  The Witcher 2 would have melted mine.  I’d better start saving for my upgrades because this new REDengine 3 they’re using will probably be so awesome my PC will die.  But at least it would die happily.

Sadly, the newest trailer doesn’t feature shirtless Geralt, but what it does feature is a very nice collection of general (without spoiling) plot-centric details, providing an overview of what Geralt is facing in the game.

geralt

A new developer diary for the console version of The Witcher 2 has been released.  In it, the developers make some pretty bold claims such as Xbox 360 never having seen a game that could match The Witcher 2 in terms of the nonlinearity and complexity of its story.

thewitchershirt

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings on Xbox 360 is one of my most highly anticipated releases this year. It doesn’t matter that I’ve played the game on PC already – I had so much fun that I am positively giddy over the thought of seeing Geralt in all his wonderful (read: shirtless) glory on my big screen tv. For those of you still on the fence regarding whether The Witcher 2 is a good purchase for your Xbox360 library, the folk at Namco Bandai Games have released this lovely trailer to help you decide. Check it out below.
