Nick, Author at Save Game

About the Author: (@Nicktatorship) Writer

Nick grew up during the golden age of adventure games, sweeping him away to worlds that left him with a love of storytelling . He’s become a devotee of the Xbox, but thinks there’s room for all of the maker’s platforms. He considers Mass Effect itself to be the defining accomplishment of humanity, which would only be surpassed by the construction of an actual mass relay. When he’s not reliving the Shakarian dream, he’s drawn most to RPGs, open world games, and hours upon hours of building things in Minecraft.

Monster Boy And The Cursed Kingdom

Today I found out about the development of a game that I’ve been screaming out for, in one way or another, every since I was a kid. I have nothing but fond memories for the SEGA Master System classic Wonderboy III: The Dragon’s Trap. It had a semi-release a few years ago in the Wii Arcade, but I’ve been hoping for a proper remake for the newer generation of consoles for some time. While I didn’t quite get my wish, it looks like one of the greatest games ever made is getting a spiritual sequel of sorts. That’s in the form of Monster Boy And The Cursed Kingdom.

6 out of 10 Sound

Our review for Star Wars: Battlefront is now up! We jump into the new game and put it through its paces, all while reminiscing over other Star Wars games.  It’s been a long, long time since a game took us to that galaxy far, far away. The games set in the Star Wars universe were more prolific once, many refusing to be bound by either expectation or genre. They weren’t all great and didn’t appeal to everybody, but some of the highlights of gaming can be found here.

PAX Australia 2016

Is it really that time already? Yes, now that everyone’s safely recovered from the dreaded PAX pox (and if you haven’t, best get that checked out), it’s time for us to cast our eyes to the coming year, and that means thinking about the next PAX Australia. While we’re still running on the post-con high that’ll hopefully take us through to the end of the year, the powers behind the event have taken it upon themselves to reveal some more news.

Review: Need for Speed

9 out of 10 Excellent Recommended

There are many things that could be said about the latest Need for Speed game, but what stands out most about the experience of playing is the narrative. This is not meant to detract at all from the gameplay itself, which feels great in almost all circumstances, but there is so much character brimming through the same that it’s hard for anything else to eclipse the tone it sets. Welcome to Hoon Town.

Hands on with Star Wars Battlefront’s Fighter Squadron

It now seems a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, but in fact it was last week, in Melbourne. A preview event for Star Wars Battlefront was hosted by EA on the first night of PAX Australia, this one to show off the fighter squadron mode for the first time in the southern hemisphere. Transport was provided in the guise of the Battlefront bus, which took the lucky few from the entrance to PAX, to the venue in North Melbourne. After some beverages and bites, it was time to get hands-on with the game. Battlefront’s Fighter […]

What N7 Day Means To Us

As some of you may know, November 7th is also known as N7 Day – a reference to the N7 branch of the Alliance Military in the Mass Effect universe. It’s a day when Mass Effect fans come together to share their love for the characters, the stories and the series, and when we also hopefully hear some Mass Effect-related news. For this N7 Day, we’re sharing a little about what it, and the series, means to us.

PAX Rising Spotlight: The Something Else

There are some games that demand notice, though not necessarily reverence. Each of these games stood out above their peers in some way, whether from the buzz they generated, the acclaim they received, or some other factor that made them fit into a nice and neat list of four.
