The Sims franchise to feature Katy Perry

Just when you think you’ve seen it all in video game news reporting, a story comes along that makes you ask what?! EA has announced that it is partnering with Katy Perry to produce and develop multiple games within the sims franchise which will showcase Katy Perry themed content and items. The first of these Perry-themed games will be the special Collector’s Edition of The Sims 3: Showtime, due to hit store shelves in March.

New Gears of War 3 DLC available now

Today is the day Gearheads everywhere have been waiting for. The third major piece of DLC for Gears of War 3, aptly titled the Fenix Rising Map Pack, has been released on XBOX Live. In total, five new multiplayer maps are included in the package, but this is more than just a map pack. A fresh batch of achievements, four new character skins, and a prestige-like ability to show off your skills all come included in the DLC. Read on for the details.

Mass Effect 3 on PC will require Origin to work

If you were hoping to be able to play Mass Effect 3 on PC without having to sign up to EA’s new little service Origin, prepare to have those hopes dashed. Chris Priestly, Bioware’s Community head honcho, has stated in a forum post over on the BSN that Origin will be required for all PC editions of Mass Effect 3, regardless of whether you have a hard copy, store bought version or a digitally downloaded version.
