If you’ve ever played a Bioware game, you know that by the time the first cutscene is over, you’re going to have a dozen new codex entries to read right off the bat. We all saw how crucial lore was in Inquisition – it was like they sharpened it and very sneakily stabbed us in the back with it. Inquisition’s first story-based DLC, Jaws of Hakkon, is now out and available for all platforms, and while it doesn’t address our elven-pantheon related questions, it does give us an extra adventure with new allies and enemies in a beautiful new area […]

First Impressions – The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Witcher 3 Logo

A thread runs through open worlds, holding together the collective sequences and explorable regions, existing across many games. We can venture into them with clear intent, or for the sake of finding something new. A barn cannot only be modelled and rendered before it’s put before the player, but must also be designed old; aged, weathered and used. While this brings a level of authenticity to already wide worlds, some also bearing depth and height, the […]

8 out of 10 Great

Tango Gameworks and Bethesda’s The Evil Within promised “a return to the roots of survival horror”, and with one of the fathers of the genre Shinji Mikami at the helm, it definitely had plenty of potential.
