3DS still selling like hotcakes in Japan; breaks monthly sales record

It’s a good day to be a Nintendo fanboy, with the 3DS smashing the record for the most hardware units sold in a month in the Japanese market. According to Japanese sales tracking firm Enterbrain, the 3DS sold 1,492,931 units between November 28 and December 25 – which is the highest hardware sales for any month since records began in 1997. Over 1 million 3DS’s sold in one month – that’s a LOT of hardware shifted.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus confirmed as PS Vita US launch title

We’re getting closer and closer to the US launch of the PS Vita, and today Tecmo Koei has announced that Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, their remake of an original Xbox game, will be a PS Vita launch title. The portable version of the game will take advantage of the Vita’s unique hardware capabilities, including the touchscreen, rear touch pad, and the gyro sensor.

Rumor: Next Xbox and Playstation to be shown at E3 2012

We here at Save Game don’t usually report on rumors, but this is one rumor that just won’t go away. According to UK publication MCVUK, both Microsoft and Sony will be unveiling the successors to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 during this year’s E3 Expo. If this rumor is correct, this would put Microsoft and Sony in direct competition with Nintendo’s announcement concerning Wii U launch details, which has already been confirmed to be happening during the event.

Guinness World Records awards dialogue record to Star Wars: The Old Republic

Star Wars: The Old Republic is the latest MMO taking the gaming community by storm, and not only is it winning fans, but it’s also winning Guinness World Records. The MMO has been given a record for the most lines of recorded dialogue in any game or film to date. And how many lines of dialogue does SW:TOR contain? House of the Dead 3 and 4 HD remakes coming to PSN

Sega has confirmed today that HD remakes of their classic light gun shooters, House of the Dead 3 and House of the Dead 4 will be coming to the PSN. Both titles will see a fresh splattering of pixels with a graphical HD overhaul, in addition to the inclusion of trophy support and move functionality.

Mass Effect: Homeworlds comic series incoming

We really should have named today Mass Effect News day – with yet more information concerning the Mass Effect verse released. Bioware and Dark Horse have announced they are joining forces once again to create another comic series set within the Mass Effect Universe. This latest comic installment, called Mass Effect: Homeworlds, will feature main characters of the game, with each issue centering around a different character.

Mass Effect 3 rated MA 15+ in Australia, features ‘sex scenes’

Mass Effect 3 has been given a MA 15+ rating by the Australian Classification Board, who noted that the game features ‘strong violence and sex scenes.’ Whilst no further description about the game was provided, it is interesting to note that the board used the term ‘sex scenes’, given that their classification of Mass Effect 2 simply stated ‘strong violence.’ Mass Effect, which is often praised for its tasteful sex scenes was classified by the board as including ‘sex scenes.’
