Star Wars: The Old Republic announces play for free weekend

Everyone who has been waiting for an excuse to try out Star Wars: The Old Republic, your moment has arrived.  Bioware announced today that they will be holding a free play weekend starting this Thursday, March 15, and running through the early morning of Monday, March 19.  As with all such events, there are a few things you should know before jumping into the fray.  Read on for the details, and a look at some sexy Twi’lek cantina dancers.

XBL games to include mandatory minimum 400 Gamerscore points from June 1

Ever been turned off from playing an XBL arcade game because it simply doesn’t offer enough Gamerscore points? Wanted to buy a title, but the thought it will only net you 200 points leave a disappointly sour taste in your mouth? Well, today is your lucky day, with Microsoft announcing that come June 1, 2012, all Xbox Live arcade games will be required to offer 400 Gamerscore points to gamers – up from the current 200.

You won’t be seeing Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City on GAME shelves

More bad news for GAME customers, with the announcement today that GAME stores will not be stocking Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. Capcom confirmed to MCV that the spine-tingling title will not be seen on either GAME or Gamestation stores. It seems the highly anticipated survival horror shooter is just the next in a long line of high profile games that won’t be being sold by GAME. Previously released games that were not sold by GAME included Asura’s Wrath and Street Fighter X Tekken.

Irrational Games launches BioShock Infinite “Heavy Hitters” video series

One of the most memorable aspects of the original BioShock was its brilliantly twisted enemies.  Names like “Big Daddy” and “Little Sister” still trigger vivid memories in those who played the game.  So when Irrational Games announced a follow up, BioShock Infinite, attention soon turned to what types of bizzare adverseries the studio would be conjuring.  Knowing this, they have launched a new video series entitled “Heavy Hitters” which will feature behind the scenes looks at some of the game’s more powerful threats.  Read on to get your first look at the Motorized Patriot.

Welp, here we go.  The EA hype train has officially left the station.  The first trailer for Medal of Honor Warfighter has arrived, and it’s very… warfightery.  As is the case with most announcement trailers, it offers very little in terms of detail.  What it’s supposed to do is set the mood, and it does that very well.  And by mood, I’m not talking candlelit dinner and a Miles Davis album.  I’m talking… well, you’ll see.  Read on to watch the trailer, and some further details on the game.
