Walking Dead: Episode 1 Review

title

As a long time fan of The Walking Dead, and as someone who never really got into the adventure game genre, I found myself conflicted when it came to Telltale Games’ new The Walking Dead game released last week. Telltale has done what I would have thought was impossible, making a zombie game true to the source material, while creating genuine moments of tension in a genre that isn’t known for its horror elements.

Dark Legends

darklegends2

I’ve never played an MMO.  Ever.  So when Jen asked me if I wanted to review Dark Legends, a free game available via android or Google Chrome, I was intrigued.  As it turned out, for a nearly free game, it’s really quite excellent.

Mass Effect 3 Review Week: Tash’s Review

masseffect3ash

Mass Effect 3 is a masterpiece. It’s not a perfect masterpiece, and the game does have its issues. But on the whole, the finale in the trilogy is a magical example of how to do a game right. So very, very right.

Saints Row: The Third – The Trouble With Clones

TroublewithClones

The Trouble with Clones represents the good and the bad of Saints Row DLC. Despite clocking in at 51 minutes total, the three missions that comprise TwC take you back to the sheer ridiculous of the main game. Unlike Professor Genki and Gangstas in Space, The Trouble with Clones fits in well with the overall storyline. I guess this means there are Saints Row: The Third spoilers ahead.

Mass Effect 3 Review Week: Keller’s Review

mass3

With regards to giving critique and other sorts of feedback, there is something I like called the sandwich technique.  You give the praise first, add the criticism in the middle, and then follow it up with more praise.  Despite the ending that left me feeling quite melancholy after completing the game, Mass Effect 3 had many wonderful story and gameplay aspects that make it one of the best games I’ve ever played.

Mass Effect 3 Review Week: Griffon’s Review

me3-launch 9

There are very few games I can say had me cheering, growling, crying, and at the edge of my seat at various points throughout the game. Mass Effect 3 is one of them. But then considering both Mass Effect 1 and 2 were the same, I am not really surprised by this. This game is damn near perfect.

Mass Effect 3 Review Week: Joe’s Review

femshep

I still remember loading the original Mass Effect into my Xbox on Christmas Day, 2007, and creating the Commander Shepard that I have played as ever since.  It felt like I was creating my own personal avatar to explore a wondrous new reality, and the bond I formed with her that day proved to be a lasting one.  When Mass Effect 3 was released, my excitement was dulled by sadness.  Even with hundreds of hours played over two games, I wasn’t nearly ready to say goodbye to Annika Shepard.  But the drive to see her journey completed won out over […]

Mass Effect 3 Review Week: Jen’s Review

shepstare

I’ll get right to it. Mass Effect 3 is an incredible game. As a fan who has been looking forward to the third installment since 2007, I was blown away by the story, character development, and emotional impact it had on me. Past choices carried weight, and old friends felt familiar and well-rounded. New characters were seamlessly integrated, and even side characters and bystanders had compelling stories the player could overhear along the way. Add to all of it a rich, moving soundtrack, engaging gameplay, and creative levels and you have an experience of which Bioware should be amazingly proud.
