She likes coffee and wine and tacos, but not all together because that would be gross. Cats are awesome.

CD Projekt’s REDengine 3 is going to make realism…realer.

CD Projekt Red is continuing it’s long and cruel tradition of making things that will probably never run on my PC.  The Witcher 2 would have melted mine.  I’d better start saving for my upgrades because this new REDengine 3 they’re using will probably be so awesome my PC will die.  But at least it would die happily.

Crystal Dynamics and Dark Horse give Lara Croft her own comic

Seems like you’re not a real video game character if you don’t have some kind of origin comic in the works as well these days, so naturally, Dark Horse has added another big name game to their list by teaming up with Crystal Dynamics to bring us TOMB RAIDER:  The Beginning.

Black Ops 2 Zombies: Revolution Part 1 Web Series (Live-action Fan Film)

I’ll admit it.  I’m a sucker for most things fan made.  The very idea that people love something so much they want to spend their own time and money creating something that is not actually theirs, that they probably won’t make money from, and that could sometimes end in ridicule makes me happy.  Fan art, fan fiction, Cosplay, and yes fan films always make me smile.

Oh Hey I Found Wrex from Mass Effect Doing This

Sure, it’s not really news.  It’s not even really Mass Effect news.   It has nothing to do with any grand plans for epic, chock full of feels, upcoming DLC.  Nope.  This is just something I stumbled across and decided you all needed to see it.  So without further ado, here is Mass Effect’s Urdnot Wrex as Zangief  in Street Fighter X Tekken PC.  Thanks to Video Games Best Mods for providing me with a chuckle at work.  Video after the jump.

Too Many Rabbits

Every one of us has a unique style of gaming.  How we play, what we play; it makes us all feel different things at different times.  Some of us are drawn to shooters, others to MMOs, others to casual mobile games that kill ten minutes of time on the bus.  Informing that are our differing lifestyles, different habits, and different goals.  I’ve started wondering lately just how my gaming style affects my life, or vice versa, and I’m finding some interesting, occasionally unnerving comparisons.

So Many Reasons Why

The last twenty- hours have been a fascinating look at the world of gaming through the eyes of women who make games, write about games, and just play games.  On Twitter, the hashtag #1reasonwhy started a frenzy of women within the gaming sphere posting reasons why things need to change in the industry for women.  Some of the reasons were downright appalling, and some of the examples of pure backward thinking misogyny and sexism were surprising even to me, a woman who has been around the gaming industry for years.

Counter Strike: Global Offensive – Beta Impressions

counterstrike

The fear in updating classic games such as Counter Strike (1.6 and Source) is that the well honed game mechanics, or even just the “feel” of the game, will be irrevocably changed. Counter Strike 1.6 still has a strong following and is still included in tournaments, and Counter Strike: Source has a massive following on Steam.
