Joe, Author at Save Game - Page 46 of 52

About the Author: (@Joe_of_the_Dead) Lead Editor, Writer

Joe was born in a time of war. A console war. Two electronic titans were locked in a heated battle for the living rooms of America. Which titans, you ask? Well, the Fairchild Channel F and the Atari 2600 of course. You see, Joe is old. So many of his favorite games tend to be on the older side as well. But that hasn’t stopped him from developing unhealthy obsessions with such modern franchises as Halo and Mass Effect. Just don’t tell him how long it’s been since the original Metroid was released. His aging heart can’t take the shock.

irongripmarauderslogo

There’s no such thing as a casual strategy game fan.  You either love them, or you’re baffled by them.  For the longest time, I was firmly entrenched in the latter category.  I didn’t get the appeal of strategy games.  The resource managment, the turn based combat, the menus on top of menus on top of menus, I just didn’t get it.  How could staring at timers be fun?  Recently, however, I have begun to see the error of my ways.  With the help of some very patient (and very brave) friends, I’ve begun to realize that there is much fun […]

halo-4-logo-small

Ask any Halo fan what their favorite thing about the franchise is, and they’ll probably give you the same answer: Teabagging noobs.  But ask any Halo fan what their second favorite things about the franchise is, and they’re likely to say that it’s the music.  Halo’s orchestral themes set new standards for videogame scores, and turned the composer, Marty O’Donnell, into a living legend in the Halo community.  But while Marty remians at Bungie, composing music for the studio’s next franchise, Halo has moved on to 343 Industries.  They recently unveiled who they’ve entrusted Halo’s music to, and I think […]
