New Lord of the Rings Online Dev Diary

Turbine has released another of their dev diaries, this one discussing the Gap of Rohan, which is an area players will be visiting in the upcoming expansion, Rise of Isengard, releasing soon on September 27. This expansion will be the third expansion for the MMO. Heavy Rain lost between 5-10 million euro due to the pre-owned market

According to Quantic Dream CEO Guillaume de Fondaumiere, Heavy Rain lost between 5 and 10 million euro’s in royalties due to the pre-owned market. Speaking to GI.biz, De Fondaumiere stated that judging by Playstation 3 trophy stats, at least 1 million people played Heavy Rain without paying a cent to the developer.

Grasshopper Manufacture has released a new trailer for their side scrolling PSN and XBLA action game Black Knight Sword. The brainchild of No More Heroes creator Goichi ‘Suda 51’ Suda, the game is described as an “interactive kamishibai” which from what I gather is something akin to traditional puppet theatre. Blizzard details new Diablo III artifacts

Blizzard has detailed some information regarding two new artifacts players can acquire in Diablo III. The first, called the Cauldron of Jordan will allow players to place junk items they don’t want into it, immediately turning them into gold. The second, the Nephalem Cube, works like the Cauldron of Jordan however this time the cube allows you to salvage crafting materials from your unwanted items. Sims Social overtakes Farmville in Daily Active Users on Facebook

According to information from AppData, EA’s The Sims Social has more daily active users than Zynga’s FarmVille. Apparently Sims Social now has 9.3 million Daily Active Users (DAUs), moving into second place behind CityVille, which averages around 14 million DAUs. According to EA CFO Eric Brown, taking to Gamasutra, Sims Social players log an average 15 to 20 minutes in the game three times a day.

CD Projekt Red appear to be open to a third installment in the popular Witcher series, if comments made by Jan Bartkowicz are anything to go by. Speaking in an interview with The-Witcher.de Bartkowicz stated that as the first game finished on a cliffhanger, and the second left things open-ended, a third game in the series would be the next logical step. Ex Witcher Producer Gop working with City Interactive

According to Polish site Gamikaze, Tomasz Gop, ex-producer on the Witcher series, is partnering with City Interactive for a new RPG. The game is apparently slated for launch in 2013 and will drop on both consoles and PC. The project is a collaboration between City Interactive, Gop and German studio Deck 13. That’s all we know for now, but we’ll keep our finger on the pul…no wait. That’s the wrong catchcry….
